pharma.be, located in Brussels, is the voice of the innovative Belgian - human and veterinary medicine - pharmaceutical industry. As interest group it represents 130 small and large innovative pharmaceutical and biotech companies and is the center of excellence for the industry. Our members are a major contributor to the Belgian economy. They supply 80 per cent of all medicines used in Belgium and have 34.000 employees.

To strengthen the impact of pharma.be in the economic aspects related to the association, internally and externally, pharma.be is looking to strengthen its team with an Economic Expert.

 

Key Responsibilities and Job Functions

  • You develop and analyse the economic footprint, direct and indirect, of the pharmaceutical industry in Belgium and within the EU.

  • You develop and analyse economic data on medicines and healthcare.

  • You benchmark industry policies relevant for the pharmaceutical sector (like Intellectual Property protection, tax and R&D incentives, trade policy, Big Data, …) as well as health care policies.

  • You provide support to the estimation and analysis of the medicines and healthcare budget.

  • You reflect on the economic aspects of medicines and healthcare policies, together with the other economic experts.

  • You give support to fellow experts in their field

  • In support of the communication team experts, you keep our members up to date with the latest economic information by sharing this information with them through our extranet, newsletters, information sessions and working groups.

  • You participate actively in the relevant pharma.be’s task forces and working groups where member companies discuss and develop their points of view.

  • You will liaise, over some time, with relevant stakeholders such as for example national and international research and consultancy organisations, federal and regional administrations, other professional associations, …

Desired Skills and Experience

You obtained a License or Master Degree in (applied) economics or similar. Some relevant working experience and knowledge of the pharmaceutical industry and its regulatory environment are a plus, but no conditions to qualify as a candidate.

  • You are a dynamic and ambitious professional willing to gain insight in and be part of the pharmaceutical policy in Belgium, with a special focus on economic issues.

  • You like to work with data and you do so very accurately, as a means to come to sound conclusions which are of policy relevance.

  • You are an analytical and strategic thinker.

  • You have a strong knowledge of MS Office Tools and you are an Excel expert in particular.

  • You are able to issue clear and concise opinions, visions and conclusions.

  • You are flexible and able to manage a challenging workload.

  • You are Trilingual (F, N, E) and strong in verbal and written communication in at least Dutch or French.

  • You are able to speak publicly and have strong presentation skills.

  • You are able to work independently and as a team member; you have the ability to collaborate with others to leverage internal expertise and achieve mutual objectives; as a team player, it is the result of the team which is most important for you.

  • Flexibility, collegiality and sense of initiative are decisive personality factors.

  • You are service-oriented towards our member companies and pay attention to their needs.
